While we closed on the purchase of our mountain cabin in March of 2013, we didn’t actually make it our home until June of that same year. Over the ensuing four years we have been busy getting a lay of the land and a sense of where we may fit within the bigger picture up here.

Some of this entails interacting with the natives, either socially or when conducting business of any kind. I’m a firm believer in spending my dollars locally if at all possible, even if that means it costs a little (and sometimes a lot) more.

Another way is to constantly explore the back roads (many of them dirt) by taking a right instead of the usual left. For me at least, getting a little lost is a great way to spend quality time with Mrs. Cog while discovering the next road less traveled. Rarely am I disappointed with my investment of time and energy. Continue reading Ψ Dark Homes

Fear…the Controlling Meme

Admittedly we are a bit isolated from the rest of the world up here on the mountain. While we do venture off on a near weekly basis, our destination is almost always nearby mid-size towns where the big box grocery and retail stores are located. Occasionally we visit Winston-Salem, NC, about as big of a ‘big city’ we care to interact with.

We are beginning to feel a bit like Appalachian hillbillies, dreading the sight of city buildings while breathing a sigh of relief when we finally catch our first glimpse of the mountains upon our return.

“Look ma, it’s the mountains.”

“Hurry up pa. Just get me home.” Continue reading Ψ Imperial Conditioning – Fear…the Controlling Meme

We’ve all wondered how someone could display heaping helpings of hypocrisy and not see, or even be aware of, their own duplicity and double standards. Regardless of whether it’s a stranger, a friend or even a family member, what is glaringly obvious to us is clearly not so to them. And just as clearly, if we can see it in them, they can also see it in us.

I just so happen to be an expert in personal hypocrisy, having demonstrated time and time again over many decades a propensity to default to hubristic demonstrations of humongous hypocrisy bar none. I am the king of the hill; which means I do know what I’m talking about. Continue reading Ψ – Patreon Newsletter #5 – Two Faced – Three Steps to Personal Hypocrisy

Once again the masters of the universe have managed to divide and control the US population in order to distract most from the continued looting and financial oppression of the middle class. Only this time they have been forced to blatantly align most of the mainstream press and the surveillance ‘services’ against one ‘side’ in order to polarize both.

You would think “We the Polarized” would wise up to these divide and control techniques, but sadly we do not. And I suspect ‘we’ never will, at least not for this iteration of the mind meme manipulation game. Continue reading Ψ – Patreon Newsletter # 4 – Polarized and Very Very Prickly

I grew up in Southern New England, a predominantly ‘liberal’ region of the US then as now. Nearly 20 years ago I moved to the mid Atlantic region of the US, best described as mixed in political persuasion, though trending towards ‘liberal’ in the major population centers. Get out of the cities though, and it is most definitely more ‘conservative’. This is where I’ve lived for most of the past 20 years.

It is important to understand that definitions, including those of the political ilk, morph and change over time. What was once considered ‘conservative’ 50 years ago would in many respects be considered ultra conservative or alt-right today. The same goes for what society considers ‘liberal’ today verses decades ago. Mix in state and regional variations and one quickly understands that if located in any other part of the world, the ‘United States’ would be viewed as six or seven different countries united by common heritage and economics.
