When Money Dies

There is vigorous debate over different definitions and systems of fiat money and its subsequent breakdowns, but there are a few commonalities. First, it always fails in the end.

Second, the failure of money always happens with a loss of confidence by the people who use it.  Eventually, a reset to a 'new and improved' money system restores confidence and the cycle often runs its course for the next few unsuspecting generations.

As we currently witness what appears to be an unprecedented global slow death of money, modern media is providing ringside seats to this loss of confidence. For your consideration: When Money Dies.

A Lesson From the Greek Crisis: Safe Deposit Boxes Are Not Safe

It is said that security is an illusion. The idea we are buffered from dangers of all shapes and sizes is a concept we carry through our days to function with some degree of confidence.

But in these strange days, when glitches and problems seem more normal than occasional, we begin to expect the unexpected. Indeed, when changing the rules hits us where it hurts the most, it is time to question just what is "safe".

For a brief look at how real life crashes into those who fail to confront the realities of 'security' before it is too late, please read on: A Lesson From the Greek Crisis: Safe Deposit Boxes Are Not Safe.

Colorized Photos From The Past Will Blow You Away

If we are to grow in all aspects of our lives we must be willing to alter our perspective in order to expand our narrow point of view. If we fail to do so things rarely ever seem to be urgent enough for us to actually change since we will rationalize away our problems as external and unavoidable.

Essentially we victimize ourselves and thereby remove all blame and responsibility for 'fixing' what is wrong. After all, nobody (least of all us) expects the victim to be anything other than victimized, powerless and helpless. I must remind myself on a daily basis that long before our personal lives become stuck in the mud our mind and spirit are already up to our necks in thick sucking muck. The less mindful we are of the world around us, and our place within it, the more paralyzed we allow ourselves to become.

Often an altered point of view comes about only by way of blunt force trauma and/or personal crisis, other (rarer) times by our willingness to pull back and seek the bigger picture point of view. After decades of hard knocks I've decided the softer easier way forward is always by personal choice and never by external force. With this in mind I try to remember that inspiration and perspective can always be found by honest (and earnest) inquiry.

Please keep this in mind as we examine old black and white photos that have been colorized, thereby providing a different perspective upon already existing points of view i.e. historic images many will remember as familiar.......but strangely different.
